THE BEST NATURAL ELDERFLOWER EXTRACT
There is no doubt, that the flowers of the European Elder (Sambucus Nigra L.) have a very delicate fragrance and flavour. If you look back into the past, people have been using the flowers for medicinal purposes by drying them and making 'tea' against cold and infections. Apart from that, the fresh flowers have traditionally been made into a sweet syrup or cordial, which is diluted with water before drinking.
The popularity of this traditional drink has recently encouraged many producers to introduce elderflower-flavoured drinks. There is a big variety of syrups and soft drinks on the market, if you look at alcoholic beverages you will find beers, proseccos, liqueurs, gin and vodka.
However, most of these drinks are made with synthetic cheap elderflower flavouring to save money and labour, and only the fewest and the best are made from a real elderflower extract that has been made with real fresh elderflowers. It is needless to say, that only these latter can come up to the fresh odour and flavour of the real flowers.
While some elderflower syrup can be made relatively easily at home from fresh flowers, the commercial production of a real elderflower extract is a very difficult and complex task.
It is exactly this, what the people at Soos Ingredients have decades of experience with.
We know:
that a real elderflower extract can only be made from fresh flowers, once a year, for a few weeks time every spring
that methods to preserve the flowers for later production are useless, because the sensitive flowers will give up their essence first when drying or freezing them
how to gain the unique essence of the flowers into an extract that will keep the crisp and highly aromatic natural odour and flavour, without the bitterness of the leaves
Yes, after decades of hard work and extensive experiments we do know how to produce the best natural elderflower extract.
Our extract is made in Central Europe from the fresh blossoms of the wild-growing elder, picked by hand. Every springtime, we organize thousands of pickers who collect for us at untouched places far from any kind of pollution. They deliver the flowers in sacks to the receiving places where the flowers are poured into cases. There are many such receiving places, and trucks collect the cases from them. These trucks come finally to the production site, which is an inventive factory, dedicated to this purpose.
There are only a few fleeting weeks every spring when fresh flowers can be gathered, and thus, elderflower extract can be produced. Therefore, this is a rare product with limited availability.
Our extract is available frozen, on a pre-order basis, once a year.
